When visiting An Giang province – a land of extraordinary people and landscapes, in addition to the beauty of mountains, temples, and pagodas, everyone can feel the peacefulness and prosperity of the land with various kinds of agricultural products. It is also the place where nature has bestowed upon a precious source of medicinal plants.
Since ancient times, people have known about different types of vegetables, not only used as food, but also combined with other herbs to treat diseases. One of the most common ways to use them is to dry and brew it as herbal tea. There are many types of herbal tea, each with different effects, from being used alongside modern medical treatment to enhance health in many aspects. Among the wide-ranging vegetables in, Chợ Mới, An Giang province, the Bacopa Monnieri plant is the most common one.
Bacopa Monnieri is a commonly used herb with a bitter and cooling taste. For a long time, this plant has been widely used as a vegetable or medicine in traditional medicine as a nootropic to improve intelligence and memory, enhance brain function, and increase lifespan.

According to Ayurvedic medicine, a medical system developed in India over 3000 years ago, Bacopa Monnieri was first used to protect against memory loss, enhance cognition, and anti-oxidation.

Since 2020, in Chợ Mới, a special-need Children Education and Therapy Center has been established to care for and educate children with developmental disorders that leads to difficulties in language, behavior, and perception. During our operation, the director realized that to help these children develop their abilities, it is necessary to focus not only on educational and therapeutic measures related to education and psychology but also to pay attention to outdoor activities and proper nutrition.
With a campus of over 8000 square meters – in addition to functional rooms, the center also has gardens for growing various vegetables and herbs for children to learn, play, and work in nature. Moreover, through our research on diet and supplements with the aim to support children’s development, we found that the medicinal properties of Bacopa Monnieri (Water Hyssop) are very suitable for the needs of special-need children’s brain development. We have realized the dream of researching and developing the Bacopa Monnieri with experts in food, medicinal herbs, and agriculture to cultivate it naturally and safely. The garden is surrounded by a buffer zone of nearly 2000 square meters, with the aim of creating a clean, safe space for Bacopa Monnieri to thrive.
Additionally, we see that the Chợ Mới area mainly used Water Hyssop as a food source.
